  1. After a few years of not having a bike in the garage I'm back in the mix. Just picked up a humble '23 RE Hunter 350 from Throttle Company in Columbus. Great people and atmosphere. Already have a pile of parts to make it my own.

  3. Long time rider, first time poster. 🙂 I have not been riding as much the last couple of years, but this year I am retiring and planning to spend a LOT more time in the saddle. Looking forward to making some new friends and possibly meeting you all at a bike night!

  5. Hi I am an older senior (experienced) new member. I started riding a Wizzer at the age of 14 and have been riding and wrenching off and on for the last 57 years. I worked at the Honda/Kawasaki shop in the 1970's and I currently rescue (flip) motorcycles. I work on and have Kawasaki and Honda Motorcycles. My rides currently are a Kawasaki 1994 en500 Vulcan and a 1990 Honda Gl1500 Goldwing SE. I have way too many motorcycles and will be selling them as I get them ready. Yes, I am a 71-year-old rider / mechanic in the Kenwood area of Cincy. Bill

  6. A list of the mods so far...... K-Speed rear shocks Hitchcock's 10% stiffer fork springs EBC HH sintered brake pads Dunlop Sportmax GPR300 tires in the OE sizes Tail Tidy (the MK unit is on the way) Custom Enfield seat Bar end mirrors DNA filter/air box cover Enfield Precision can FuelX Lite Enfield LED indicators Short adjustable levers LED headlight and marker bulbs I think that's it for now.......I'm waiting on the Enfield rev counter kit and upgraded shift linkage to rid the bike of the 6 miles of slop in the shifter assy. I've worked a bit on trimming weight from the bike as well......down just shy of 7 pounds......and it still won't "Do the Ton". 🤣

  7. What I find hilarious is even if I install the aftermarket cam (once it's available again) it still will only do about 85mph. With what I'm currently installing it would do 75 or so......but that is not the intended use of the bike. I'll be using the 'ol adage of "it's more fun riding a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow". 😂 Hence upping the tires and suspension.

  8. I ventured up there due to the color I wanted. The two closer RE dealers (Williams in Xenia and the Indian dealer in Walton, Ky.) did not have one. I will be using the Indian dealer for service whilst under warranty. They have a good selection of vintage bikes for sale and in the service bays. Paid suggested retail and purchased over $800 in RE accessories. They offered 10% off on all acc's when purchased with a bike and installed everything for free.

  12. Clinton County Motorsports has been a great resource to me for service. They may be slightly high on price, but they do great work and are knowledgeable. Talk to Eric in Service, he's very good. I am going today to have a valve cover gasket replaced on my extended warranty. Yay for that.

  14. I like to ride to root beer stands. Over the last couple of years I've been working on a map of stands. I've put it here: https://rootbeerstands.com/ I know it's just a quick and dirty template site. Let me know if you know of any stands, or places that make their own root beer, for me to add to the map. It's all a work in progress. Also let me know if you want to ride to any of these places this summer!

  18. The votes are in! Tied results, so we'll go with the earlier date to allow a fallback plan if something happens! @Windfall @ngphill @JeremyM @Elongo06 @Atrain @Benjamelon Community Garage / Ride on April 16th: All invited to arrive any time 8:30 8:00 AM or later. There'll be coffee, water, donuts. Kickstands up no later than 10:30 10:00 AM. (Sooner could allow a more twisty / less direct route). Arrive @ Elk Creek no later than 12:00 PM for custom molded ear plug service. I'm confirming the 12/noon arrival. That was the need last time, not sure if it'll change this time. $50 and 10-15 minutes per set. I advised there'll be 5 people buying plugs (Jeremy, Jake, Ben, Atrain, Nick), with a potential 6th (Windfall). We're flexible after this. Lunch probably a good idea . Suggestions? Anything we've missed? IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING US BUT MISSED VOTING - REACH OUT! WE'D LOVE TO HAVE YOU!

  19. Motorcycle: 2010 Kawasaki ZX6R Rider: 29, M, Single, no tickets ever, temporary permit only Policy: Full coverage 250/500 $281/year, I think it's a $500 ded on comp/collision. With American Modern through Geico I don't know, this makes me feel like I am getting a pretty good deal on insurance seeing what you all pay. I was told it will go down once I have my endorsement as well. We'll see by how much. I had a 15k comprehensive claim from when a deer hit my car about two years ago. Not sure if those change the price or anything though, I don't think my auto policy went up.

  22. Motorcycle: 2019 ZX636(GKF) Rider: 40M,S no tickets or accidents Full coverage 100k/300k/100k U-M 100/300/100 Policy changes: 2023 will be changed to "leisure". Some reason it's not set. Should lower it. $656 a year with a $50 deductible with Erie.(annual vanishing deductible and rate lock) Note: Erie will not insure a single bike, I believe you need a auto policy as well. The full auto WITH bike FC for both is $1,119. Which should go down.

  28. I used to love playing with trains on my parents kitchen floor when I was little. Now that I have my own house and plenty of space, I decided to start building a table for a layout in my basement. Definitely a long term project, but figured I'd start keeping track of what I'm doing to keep myself motivated to work on it. Here's what I accomplished this past weekend. Got some 2x3 boards for legs and 1x3 furring strips for framework. Cut some 1/8 in. plywood into two 4x4ft pcs. and one 2x4ft pc. to make the tabletops, with a 4x8 ft. pc. for the other top. Laying out the framework to make sure it fits. Nothing fancy, just butt joints. Don't forget to predrill the holes! Glue and drywall screws to hold everything together. Yea I know use wood screws but meh. It's what I got lying around. Finished 4x4 frame. Tabletop with pre-drilled holes to hold it on. More glue and screws. Finished 4x4 and 2x4 tables. The tables so far...there's a 4x8 ft table with a 4x4 ft table in the corner, followed by the 2x4 ft table and another 4x4 ft table to cap it off. Laid down a bit of track just to get a train running, but still need to level everything out, attach them to each other, add a foam base, and LOTS of other stuff. Hopefully get more work done this weekend.

  30. Harbor Freight sells a hot knife that should work for this. I think I paid between $10 - $15 for mine. Looking good! I have no idea what goes into this, so looking forward to seeing it develop.

  31. Have to be blunt - had an overall bad experience buying my Ducati here in mid-2021. Purchasing I did all the work. I knew what I wanted and that I was paying MSRP due to it being a brand new model on backorder. Lexington seemed annoyed at questions, didn't follow-up or return calls. I felt like I had to try to get this place to take my deposit to reserve the bike for me. Picking Up I called every few weeks to see if the bike arrived (they never gave updates like they promised). My last call before pickup, the saleslady put me on hold & came back with "Oh! They told me its been here for a few days!" - Great... thanks. Go to pick the bike up & its noticeably dirty with fingerprints & smears everywhere. Apparently they give every customer a t-shirt, but didn't have one in my size (XL). Service & Parts I ordered some Ducati parts. One came in with the bike & was installed, rest on backorder - normal at the time. Couple months later I get notified the heated grips arrived. Dropped bike off for grip install + post break-in first service. Picked the bike up later and: The first service warning light & restrictions were still on the bike. Had to get them to take it back, hook it up, and properly reset it all. The service guy walked me through grip usage completely wrong. I'd already looked it up online, so nodded along with his wrong info & left. Grips did work fine. Later get notified my full exhaust is in & drive 1.5 hours to pick it up. Its the WRONG exhaust (for prior year model, different header sizes). Mistakes happen, but I belabored this point when ordering the exhaust to make sure they got it right (remember me saying I was doing all the work). They take the exhaust back, order the correct one. Couple weeks later my bike is throwing tons of errors. No speedometer, no ABS, no wheelie control, traction control, etc etc. Called Lexington Motorsports, describe it, they say "we have 1 guy who knows Ducati's and he's going to be out a while. I would take it somewhere else". Thanks for the honesty - but WTF? Icing on the cake - I take it to Commonwealth Motorcycles in Louisville. Quick summary: They asked if I installed the heated grips myself. I say "No, dealer has to activate them anyways so I let Lexington Motorsports do it." He says "Wow - they really left things a mess up there. They didn't reconnect a wheel speed sensor fully and it finally vibrated loose causing all your issues. "Oh, and your oil is overfilled." They messed up the exhaust order. They messed up the heated grip install causing electrical issues. They didn't know how to use the heated grips. They couldn't even do a proper oil change! What kind of dealer service center can't change oil appropriately! I'll never go back to Lexington Motorsports - not even for simple oil change.

  37. WHAT: A "community garage" day to perform general light maintenance on bikes. Think: oil change, brake pads, chain/sprockets, wash & dry, etc. Wrench together, learn together. Also a good resource for those without tools or a work area. WHERE: I'm willing to host. I have just about any tool needed, motorcycle lift, universal stands, chain tool, etc. WHEN: To be decided (vote in the poll) WHAT ELSE: Considerations I haven't addressed? Post'em up.
